As with most other sectors, school-going learners and especially matriculants are facing a challenging time during the lockdown. Schools have been closed for nearly a month already, with teachers and students doing their best to finish their syllabus in time to pass.

To try and help out South Africa’s matrics, a dynamic group of top achieving graduates of 2019 have now banded together to tutor the class of 2020 through YouTube videos, for free. All subjects are covered and some grade 11 work also receive attention.

Called Lockdown Learning, the tutors even offer Whatsapp and Zoom conferences to further explain tricky subjects. The members of this heroic team all passed their Matric with averages of 90% and above, according to Good Things Guy.

“As a group of 2019 matriculants, we can only imagine how hard it must be to be going through matric under these circumstances. In light of this, we came together to make a difference – we are offering free tutoring and assistance to any students that needs help, further we have opened a YouTube channel where we upload lessons on different topics for different subjects every day and we host a number of free zoom conferences where we tutor students,” the group says on Facebook.

The lessons are available here.
