Residents in the Hout Bay Area are warned to be vigilant by The Hout Bay Community Policing Forum (Hout Bay CPF) as the festive season begins. The area has had a very busy 48 hours, according to the CPF.

Two tourists were robbed by knifepoint on Tuesday morning while walking in a clinic in the Hangberg area. Three to five suspects are reported to have taken part in the robbery, but South African Police Services (SAPS) have not yet confirmed this.

A delivery truck in the area was looted, and a private residence in the area was also broken into on Valley Road at approximately 10pm on Tuesday evening.

A well-known Hout Bay resident named Anthony Allen passed away, at the age of 53, in a freak paragliding accident.

“A formal inquest has been opened and condolences to family and families and friends in this difficult time,” Hout Bay CPF said.

“Residents please be alert as the festive season is looming and criminals are also shopping!” the CPF added.
