The peaceful night in New Crossroads was shattered by a brutal scene of violence late last night, leading to the tragic deaths of three men and severe injuries to two others, reports Cape {town} Etc.
The Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit has initiated an investigation into this horrific incident that unfolded shortly before midnight.
According to police reports, officers responded to urgent calls regarding a shooting on Moletsane Street around 11pm. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless bodies of three males in a bedroom, each suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Two additional victims, also males, were subsequently transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment due to their injuries.
Police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut confirmed that preliminary investigations indicate that the victims, believed to be in their thirties, were ambushed by four armed suspects who opened fire before fleeing the scene.
Intriguingly, several cell phones and a firearm belonging to one of the victims were also found at the site, raising questions about the motive behind this brazen attack.
The investigation teams are actively working to piece together the events that led to this senseless act of violence, but as of now, the exact motive remains unclear.
Traut has made an urgent appeal to the community, encouraging anyone with potential leads or information regarding the incident to come forward.
‘We are looking for any details, no matter how small, that could assist us in resolving this case,’ he stated.
