SABC News reports that police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of three bodies in the Site C Informal settlement of Samora Machel on Tuesday morning.
The victims, all male, were found in close proximity to one another and are believed to have been killed in a suspected vigilante attack.
According to Western Cape Police spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut, early reports suggest that the men were accused by community members of being robbers. It is suspected that they were fatally assaulted.
Traut said that vigilantism is condemned in the strongest possible terms; as such acts are not only unlawful but also undermine the rule of law.
He also states that those found to have participated in this brutal crime will face the full force of the law.
The SAPS is urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
