US President Donald Trump has indicated he may not attend the G20 leaders’ summit in South Africa in November unless what he calls the ‘genocide of white Afrikaners’ is addressed.
Despite South Africa’s International Relations Minister Ronald Lamola confirming all leaders are invited, Trump expressed concern over alleged land grabs and violence against white South Africans.
‘South Africa leadership is coming to see me, I understand, sometime next week, and we are supposed to have a G20 meeting there or something. I don’t know how we can go unless that situation is taken care of,’ said Trump.

His administration has already boycotted some G20-related meetings.
Trump cited the recent arrival of 49 white Afrikaners in the US, claiming they are fleeing violence, and said the US has extended citizenship to them.
‘People who live in South Africa, they say it’s a terrible situation taking place, so we’ve essentially extended citizenship to those people to escape that violence and come here.’
The US State Department confirmed it continues to prioritise asylum claims involving racial discrimination.
