Two alleged extortionists, aged 33 and 34, were shot in the head in a suspected revenge killing on Tuesday, August 3 in Gugulethu.
According to IOL, the victims were a part of the ‘Gupta Gang’, known for demanding protection fees from businesses. They were reportedly driving in a Toyota Tazz when they were chased by three unknown suspects in a Toyota Avanza.
After stopping the Toyota Tazz, the suspects then dragged the victims out of their vehicle and shot them in their heads.
Police spokesman Joseph Swartbooi said on Wednesday that the suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested, as UK Time News reports.
“Gugulethu Police are investigating two counts of murder following a shooting near NY 125 in Gugulethu on Tuesday just after 4 pm.
“The victims were declared dead on the spot by medical staff. The motive for the attack is revenge,” Swartbooi said.
