A case of murder and attempted murder are currently being investigated by police following a shooting incident in Kraaifontein on Wednesday, 6 April.
Three men believed to be taxi operators were shot by unknown gunmen in Jackson Masala Street, Bloekombos. The community is said to be reeling from the shock with many people fearing retaliation from fellow taxi operators, restarting another taxi war.
According to IOL, two men aged 36 and 50 were shot and fatally wounded, while a 35-year-old man was shot and wounded. The suspects are believed to have fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.
“The two victims 35 and 50 were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The 35-year-old victim was taken to a facility for medical treatment,” stated police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg.

Meanwhile, the Hawks in the Western Cape are still on the hunt for two suspects allegedly involved in a spate of bank robberies that have taken place since November 2021.
According to Hawks’ spokesperson Zinzi Hani, eight bank robberies have been committed by the alleged suspects, including various bank robberies at various Standard and ABSA Banks.
Anyone with information regarding identifying the individuals is urged to come forward.
