Orderick Lucas, who is just one year and ten months old, has been missing since Sunday, March 24, and two women have been arrested in connection to his disappearance. The two suspects have been taken into custody on charges of child neglect and abandonment.

Little Orderick was reported missing at the Kleinvlei police station by his mother at 11am on Thursday, March 28 – four days after he was last seen. He was last seen with his mother’s friend, who was with him from Saturday to Sunday.

He [claimed] that the mother took the child on Sunday night. Mother is saying that she not sure whom she [gave] the child to,” a missing persons flyer from the Pink Ladies read.

Orderick was last seen wearing a pair of red pants with a white vest and grey jersey, and according to the flyer is from Tecomas Street in Melton Rose.

South African Police Services (SAPS) spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk confirmed that the search for Orderick continues and that the dog unit has searched several residences in the area. The search, however, has remained fruitless.

A door-to-door search was also conducted in the surrounding areas with help from residents, the commander of the Kleinvlei Police Station and the Kuils River Family Violence, Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

Anyone who has any details on Orderic’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact investigating officer Detective Sergeant Beja on 082 522 1047/082 334 8416, or the Pink Ladies on 072 214 7439/083 378 4882/08600 10111.
