Uber will soon be introducing a fleet of electric vehicles in South Africa next year.
According to Travel News, the introduction of 200 BYD (Build Your Dreams) electric vehicles will commence with a pilot programme in Johannesburg.

In July earlier this year, the e-hailing service announced that 100 000 new BYD electric vehicles would be rolled out onto its platform in key markets worldwide.
BYD is a Chinese-owned electric vehicle manufacturing company, that has been observed to have a growing presence in South Africa.
Uber also introduced Uber Safari earlier this year, a service in Cape Town that offers customers the opportunity to book safari trips through the app.
The limited-time offering is available until January, which grants Cape Town residents and visitors another means to experience wildlife by game viewing.
