Uber can become quite costly, but it’s a necessary service for many in the Mother City. Luckily, the e-hailing platform has acknowledged that there is a need for more affordable transport options, and have launched a cheaper alternative.
In October, Uber rolled out UberNam, a more affordable option to take you where you need to be. Trips on UberNam start from as low as R19.
The UberNam option will use vehicles that are more affordable to maintain than the vehicles used for UberX, Uber Black and other options. The same safety protocols will remain in place across different options.
UberNam is valid across Durban, as well as in certain areas of Johannesburg and Cape Town like Paarl/Wellington, the Peninsula and Strand. However, it cannot be used by travellers needing to go to and from any airports in Cape Town, Durban or Johannesburg.
Hi there, thanks for reaching out. We are excited to offer UberNam in the following areas: –
Johannesburg: Kathlehong, Alex, Boksburg, Benoni, Cosmo City, Tembisa, Diepsloot, Soweto
– Pretoria: Akasia, Mamelodi, Midrand.
Cape Town: Paarl/Wellington, Peninsula, Strand,
