14-year-old Mumtaaz Abrahams, who went missing on Sunday, April 22, has been found safe and unharmed. Abrahams had been reported missing after she had left her family’s home in Eastridge to go to a local store and failed to return.

South African Police Services Western Cape spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk says the teenager was found on Thursday.

“This office can confirm that the missing person was found yesterday afternoon unharmed and has been reunited with her family.”

In an interview with the Daily Voice, a family member shared that Abrahams was found near to her home.

“Someone had called the family to say they found her not far from her house, visiting with a friend. She was not hurt in any way and said she was just with her friend,” the family member said. “We are just grateful she is not hurt.”

The Western Cape Missing Unit assisted the family in searching for Abrahams and helped to locate her. This comes after the family appealed to the public to help find their daughter.
