The MyCiti strike is expected to continue today with a number of routes still suspended and a select few running according to schedule.

MyCiti announced today on their Twitter that services will operate as they did yesterday and the illegal bus driver strike is still underway.

Disgruntled MyCiti staff, currently outsourced, are demanding to be employed by the City of Cape Town in order to obtain better working conditions and salaries.

The City says the striking bus drivers are employed by the Vehicle Operating Companies.

The strike is considered illegal as neither the Vehicle Operating Companies, or the City were notified of the strike beforehand or the reasons for it.

Drivers are planning to continue with the strike until their demands are addressed.

Here are the routes that are operational and suspended today:

MyCiti has urged commuters to communicate via their Twitter or information number for assistance throughout the day.

Many commuters are feeling the strain of the current strike and taxis in Cape Town are being overloaded with locals desperate to get to work.
