After launching an investigation, South African Police Services (SAPS) have arrested three suspects following the stabbing of a 17-year-old high school student in Khayelitsha.

It is alleged that one of the suspects, who was a former student at the same school, managed to gain entry to the school and found the victim. He then proceeded to stab the victim several times on his upper body.

“The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died. The 19-year-old suspect was arrested for murder,” said SAPS spokesperson, FC Van Wyk. “Further police investigation led to the arrest of other two suspects who were allegedly involved in this incident. The two suspects aged 18 and 19  respectively were arrested this morning Thursday, 2018-10-18.”

The first suspect appeared in the Khayelitsha Magistrate Court today, while the other two suspects will appear when they are charged.

Yesterday, another student was stabbed in a separate incident at Stellenzicht Secondary School in Stellenbosch – a grade eight learner was stabbed on the school grounds during break time.

Stellenbosch SAPS are currently conducting investigations.
