RMB Ultra-trail Cape Town is renowned for hosting a variety of trail races, which take place in the mountainous region of the Cape Peninsula, a world-class destination.
This weekend, they’ve teamed up with the scenic Mother City once again to host their biggest trail running race of the year, right here on Table Mountain, Cape {town} Etc reports.

The all-inclusive event offers a distance to suit each participant, as milestones range from 16km – 170km.
Runners will traverse sections of the northern mountain range of Cape Town and the run will then extend to the more remote southern mountains.
Trails range from those located in Silvermine, Kalk Bay, Kommetjie, Simon’s Town, Hout Bay, Llandudno and the Constantia Winelands. Ultimately, however, the locations depend on the distance participants chose to run.
This weekend, 2500 runners from all over the world will take on Table Mountain as they tackle one of six challenging trail runs.
Locals have been urged to avoid relocating any route markers displayed on the roads or trails. In addition, local hikers should avoid the selected areas where possible.
Friday:
The 16km run will begin at 8:30am at Beau Constantia and will finish in the City.
The 55km trail run begins at 7am at Llandudno via Hout Bay and the Alphen Trail. This run also leads to the inner City, marking it as the final destination.
Milers, those participating in the 170km run, are set to begin at 5pm and members of the public are advised to avoid Kloof Corner and Platteklip at sunset.
Saturday:
The 100km trail run will begin promptly at 4am in the city. It begins with a loop of Lion’s Head and eventually comes to a close in the City once again, after runners make their way through Llandudno, Hout Bay and the Alphen Trail.
The 23km run begins at 9am at the Alphen Trail and will continue up the contour path up to Block House, ultimately finishing in town.
Sunday:
The 35km run will begin at 6am and runners will head up onto Kloof Corner as well as Platteklip.
Those who encounter runners, are welcome to show their support and extend some of the welcoming energy Cape Town is well-known for.
The Ultra-Trail team has further warned that all five races are genuine mountain excursions over some highly technical trails. They have thereby urged participants to note that the necessary care, respect and precautions must be taken when running within Table Mountain National Park and its surrounds.
