When Judge Siraj Desai read out the guilty charge on Monday at the Western Cape High Court, the entire room gasped. Three years after the brutal murder of three members of his family, justice was served in the Henri van Breda triple-axe murder trial.

Desai found Henri guilty of three counts of premeditated murder, one count of attempted murder and one count of obstructing justice – after he hacked his parents and siblings with an axe. Sentencing will be handed out on June 5.
