Cape Town’s beloved Velvet Cake Co. has informed their clients that the Loop Street store will be closing – for good. The news has broken the heart of many a cake-lover across the City. Their cakes are lauded as the best in the Cape.

“It’s a sad day today, because we are moving out of our beautiful Loop Street store. Unfortunately, we are closing the store for good. On a better note, we still offer delivery straight to your door seven days a week,” they said via Facebook on Monday, July 20.

“We are very sad to close our Loop Street store,” a spokesperson said. “Many places in Cape Town are closing, and unfortunately we are one of them.”

The Velvet Cake Co. has closed their Loop Street store.

Fans of their cakes reacted immediately.

“This is not good! I work in town and this is where we go when we want to cheat on our relentless diets that never worked anyway,” one social media user said.

“Terrible news but so glad we can still get your gorgeous goodies! That incredible store will be missed,” another said.

The Velvet Cake Co. is known for its bright and delicious Rainbow Cakes, which can also be purchased by the slice. They also recently released another option for those who cannot choose between their favourite cakes – you can order a box with three slices of cake, including Rainbow, Red Velvet and Chocolate.

Cake-lovers need not despair too much, as the Cake Co. will still be delivering their yummy cakes to customers, and will now also deliver to customers in Tokai, Paarl, Somerset West and Durbanville.
