Video footage showing what unfolded when five guests were shot at and robbed on Friday, October 16 – at a bed and breakfast outside Addo in the Eastern Cape – has been released.
In the three-minute video, you can see guests relaxing, they then hear something happening outside and wake up to investigate. There is a flash of light that looks like gunfire and the guests get down. One man looks like he is struck by a bullet. Four suspects with balaclavas enter the premises and start looking for valuables. They make guests lie down and remove their valuables. The robbers then leave, and shortly after the guests flee to safety.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli said they are investigating two cases of attempted murder and house robbery.
“One of the bullets struck the victim in the upper body. During the mayhem, a second victim sustained a minor injury after one of the bullets grazed his thigh,” he said.
The robbers fled with a laptop, a wallet, a handbag and a cellphone.
