A luxury yacht belonging to sanctioned Russian oligarch Alexey Mordashov, valued at nearly R10 billion ($500 million), is heading for Cape Town.
According to private tracking site MarineTraffic, the yacht left Hong Kong on Thursday and is en route to the Southern tip of Africa.
Business Insider reported that, before Hong Kong, the vessel was “hiding” in the far east of Russia after a trip to Seychelles. Here, local law enforcement and custom officials went onboard for an inspection – and leaked footage of the inside of the vessel on social media.
You’ve just witnessed the inside of the 15th largest yacht in the world. Superyachts are typically 24 meters and above. Megayachts are typically over 80 meters. This yacht is 142m meters.

Overall I think that this is the most balanced mega-yacht. pic.twitter.com/IBodFEX5PG
