According to EWN, the patient was admitted as she had a head injury. The Western Cape Health Department’s Chief Operating Officer, Dr Saadiq Karriem, said there was no excuse for the behaviour of the security guards.
‘That particular patient is well-known to the Karl Bremer hospital. I understand the staff see her regularly and often, and she had been discharged and apparently didn’t want to leave the hospital premises, and that’s when the incident took place,’ Karriem said.
