Cape Town Pride Festival (Pride) brought nothing but love to the streets of the Mother City this weekend. Rainbows were abundant and there were smiles for miles.
Pride provides a platform for every part of Cape Town’s LGBTI+ community (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, queer, questioning, intersex, non-binary, asexual, polysexual, genderqueer and gender variant people) to raise awareness of LGBT+ issues and campaign for the freedoms that will allow all to live their lives on a genuinely equal footing.
The festival brought together people of every race and faith, whether disabled or able-bodied, and all sexualities and genders. Cape Town Pride is run entirely by volunteers. Organisers first came together in 2014 to find a way to deliver a Pride that Cape Town deserves.
