A quick stop for a fresh trim in Mitchells Plain turned into a light-hearted community moment this week after Cape Town Mayor and Democratic Alliance leader Geordin Hill-Lewis shared a Facebook reel showing himself getting a haircut from a local young barber named Jayden, Cape {town}Etc reports.
In the clip, which quickly made the rounds on local social media feeds, Hill-Lewis is seen seated in the barber’s chair while chatting casually with residents and getting a fresh trim from Jayden.
Referencing the video posted to his Facebook page, the mayor captioned the reel: ‘Dankie Jayden, my trim is in.’
But it was a comment from a nearby auntie that added an extra layer of humour to the moment and sparked reactions online.
‘You charge the mayor more, he has a lot of money, R100 for a haircut,’ she told Jayden during the trim, drawing laughter in the background.
