Premier Alan Winde’s plea
Western Cape Premier Alan Winde encourages those 50 years and older to walk into vaccine sites and take up their vaccine opportunity.
“As of today, 1.5 million vaccines have already been administered in our province and we must make use of our opportunity to get vaccinated, should we be eligible.
“I am, however, concerned that those between 50-59 have a lower uptake in terms of registrations.”
Winde says hospital data indicates that this group, including the over 60s, are at a higher risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19 and requiring hospitalisation.
Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town has dispatched three vaccination vans to areas with low vaccination intake in order to improve access and vaccine coverage in the metropole.
