Western Cape Premier, Alan Winde urges residents to continue practising lifesaving behaviours to help fight the COVID-19 virus.
Winde’s plea:
- Wear your mask properly, covering your nose and mouth.
- Wash and sanitise your hands regularly.
- Avoid crowded places, confined spaces and close contact.
- Keep your gatherings short, small and outdoors – with lots of ventilation.
- Drink responsibly and do not drink and drive.
- Get vaccinated when it is your turn.
- Stay home if you feel sick. If you have any difficulty breathing, seek urgent medical treatment.
- Help protect those at highest risk – especially those who are older, and those with comorbidities.
- Continue to protect your own family bubble.
Meanwhile, the province did not receive the number of vaccines needed to meet the significant demand amongst the public this week.
“The fact that there is such enthusiasm to get vaccinated is great news, but we understand it is also very frustrating when it is not possible to be vaccinated as soon as possible. The fact that the demand is far outstripping our current supplies means that we are experiencing pressures at some of our sites. We please ask for your patience and understanding,” Winde indicated.
