It was a significant day for the Western Cape government after signing a historic Government-to-Government agreement with the USA, where the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will support the Western Cape’s Department of Health in implementing initiatives specifically focused on HIV, Tuberculosis (TB), and COVID-19.
The partnership will help expand suitable options for residents to pick up their chronic medication, and receive consultations virtually through telemedicine. According to Western Cape Premier Alan Winde, the partnership will also assist the provincial government in saving many lives in the province.
“Ensuring the best possible healthcare to our people remains a top priority for my government, especially as we respond to the major challenges that HIV, TB & COVID-19 presents,” Winde said
The G2G partnership will allow innovations, such as e-lockers for chronic medications, to be fully realized and to contribute to our healthcare services. #WesternCapeG2G #savelives#G2GWC #EpidemicControlWC pic.twitter.com/3mSbPW1TAr
