After seven months of gallivanting across the African continent on his rickshaw and 210 days of consecutive travel, Suzuki finally arrived in the Mother City over the weekend.
Upon arriving in the Cape, Suzuki made a beeline for the V&A Waterfront, where locals commemorated his arrival the way only Capetonians can!
Masses awaited the arrival of Suzuki at the Waterfront over the past weekend, while some even joined him on the last stretch of his journey from Green Point to the V&A Waterfront.
Other spectators proudly waved a Japanese flag, honouring the 34-year-old man’s heritage.
Hailing from Nairobi, Kenya, Suzuki has been travelling across the African continent since June of last year.
His journey led him through parts of the East African coast, the streets of Zambia and Namibian desert before he eventually entered South Africa.
When asked why he decided on Cape Town as his final destination, Suzuki simply stated ‘I like the ocean and people and I heard the people are very nice here.’
As expected, locals embraced Suzuki in a manner that ‘nice’ doesn’t even begin to describe.
‘I’m really happy to make it, I feel amazing,’ said Suzuki upon arrival.

After exploring the Mother City, Suzuki reportedly intends to return to Japan to recover and prepare for his next journey – South America!
