The City’s Disaster Risk Management Centre is closely monitoring the forecast from the South African Weather Service (SAWS), which warns of potential severe weather looming over Cape Town in the coming days.

The SAWS has issued a Yellow level 4 and Orange level 6 warning for disruptive rain.
Flooding of roads and settlements can be expected, along with significant disruptions to traffic and essential services, in parts of the province.
According to SAWS, a potent cut-off low-pressure system is expected to sweep through the Western Cape starting Saturday evening, 6 April and persisting until Monday, 8 April.

This system brings with it the threat of a black southeasterly wind, disruptive rainfall, high waves capable of causing damage, and the likelihood of very cold, wet, and windy conditions.
In response to this advisory, the DRMC has promptly activated all relevant City services to stand by, prepared to address any potential impacts stemming from the adverse weather conditions.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and utilise the various channels provided by the City to report any problems or seek assistance during this period of heightened weather risk.
