Disaster management teams in the Western Cape have been placed on high alert this weekend in anticipation of severe weather conditions. Heavy rains are expected to hit parts of the Cape Peninsula on Sunday afternoon and continue into Monday.

According to EWN, in addition to heavy rain, strong winds are expected along the coast from Saldanha to Plettenberg Bay.
‘The City’s Disaster Risk Management Centre and related city departments are on standby in the event of any localised flooding or other weather-related impacts that may occur,’ said Cape Town Disaster Risk Management’s Charlotte Powell.
