South Africans will have to contend with another back-and-forth when it comes to load shedding this weekend. The power utility has recently announced that load shedding has been reduced to Stage 2 from 08:00 until 16:00. However, Stage 3 will kick in as soon as the clock strikes 16:00 and will remain in effect until 22:00.
While load shedding is still load shedding no matter how you slice it, the announcement is a slight relief from Eskom’s announcement on Saturday, 21 May, that load shedding would be ramped up to Stage 4, ensuring that South Africans were without power at least three times yesterday.
The reduction in load shedding came after Eskom announced that a generating unit at the Arnot, Hendrina, Tutuka and two at the Lethabo Power Station had returned to service on Saturday afternoon.
However, the power utility is urging all South Africans to cut their electricity usage, especially between 05:00 – 09:00 in the mornings and 16:00 – 22:00 in the evenings.
