The Provincial Health Department says it will increase its efforts to vaccinate the bedridden, homeless and undocumented residents this week.
According to the province’s latest statistics on COVID-19, more than one million people have been vaccinated so far as vaccination increased over the past week as more than 163 000 people got their vaccine, SABC reports.
Western Cape Premier Alan Winde also received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at the Mitchells Plain Community Health Centre on Saturday, July 31. Winde indicated that he specifically chose to get vaccinated in Mitchells Plain, using the special Saturday vaccination service offered by the province’s Health Department.

Meanwhile, there have been echoes of a stricter lockdown as COVID-19 cases increased in the province. 1 847 new cases were reported, taking the Western Cape to the top of the list of the most active cases in the country, IOL reported.
