A woman in her 40s has been killed and another man injured, when they were trapped under a rockfall today on Table Mountain, ER24 spokesperson Annine Siddall has said.

According to reports, paramedics arrived at the scene at around midday to receive a patient who was being brought down the mountain in a helicopter.

Four people were allegedly on a path that has been temporarily closed on Table Mountain in Camps Bay, when a rockfall occurred.

The extent of the man’s injuries were unknown, he was treated and transported to a hospital close by.

The woman succumbed to her injures and was declared dead by mountain rescue services. Two other women, who are also believed to be in their 40s, sustained minor injuries and did not need hopitalisation.

Circumstances surrounding the incident will be investigated, nothing further is known at this stage.
