In an exclusive trial, Woolworths, Uber Eats and Engen Quickshop & Co have joined forces to bring ultimate convenience to the lives of late-night snackers and Woolies shoppers nationwide, reports Cape {town} Etc.
South Africans can now shop Woolworths Foodstops at Engen via the Uber Eats app far beyond traditional delivery hours, with orders available until midnight, so night owls in need of a snack or busy parents who’ve forgotten lunchbox supplies now have peace of mind, knowing that Woolies After Dark has them covered.
To access the service, Uber Eats app users can simply search ‘Woolies’ to find the much-loved meals, treats, pantry staples and flowers sold at Woolworths Foodstops, now available for delivery until midnight.
According to the retail giant, all deliveries will maintain the Woolies cold chain and shoppers can enjoy the same quality on Uber Eats as they would on the group’s own Woolies Dash, with the benefit of extended hours.
‘Woolies After Dark is the natural next step in on-demand delivery, building on the Woolies Dash promise of convenience anytime and anywhere,’ said Woolworths in its announcement.
Across the nation, 24 Woolworths Foodstops are now shoppable on Uber Eats in Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Western Cape, with nine more stores to be added before the end of March, and more on the horizon as demand for the service grows.
In the Western Cape, the following Woolworths Foodstops are now Woolies After Dark shoppable:
- Engen on Orange, Engen Vineyard, Engen Paradyskloof and Engen La Rochelle
The following Foodstops are expected to become Woolies After Dark shoppable soon:
- Engen Sea Point, Engen Meadowridge, Engen Sonnendal, Engen Settlers Way, Engen Tyger Waterfront
Interestingly, General Manager for Grocery and Retail at Uber Eats Cikida Gcali added that this expansion of Woolworths’ services comes from the success of various smaller trials which took place across SA.
‘Certain parts of the country have had access to Woolworths’ food on Uber Eats during smaller trials, and the demand was exceptional,’ noted Gcali, adding that it’s clear that South Africans are eager to shop at times that are convenient to them.
In fact, close to 20% of sales from participating Woolworths Foodstops are a result of Woolies After Dark.
