Inspired by the beloved Chuckles chocolate malt sweets, the new beauty line includes a series of body care products that have captured the imagination of South African shoppers.
Originally posted on Facebook as an April Fools’ prank, the teaser featured a fictional Chuckles-inspired beauty range, complete with chocolate-scented body wash, body lotion and even lipstick. The reaction from customers was so overwhelmingly positive that Woolworths decided to turn the joke into a reality. The Chuckles beauty collection is now available for purchase, sparking excitement among fans eager to experience the sweet-smelling products they had once thought were a hoax.
The limited-edition range, which includes items such as the Chuckles Chocolate Smoothie Body Wash, Smoothing Chocolate Sugar Scrub, and Chuckles Chocolate Whipped Body Butter, is priced under R200. Customers can also indulge in Chuckles-themed lip balm, lipstick and lip gloss. The collection, featuring rich ingredients like African shea butter and cocoa butter, promises a luxurious pampering experience with a nostalgic chocolate malt scent.
While the products have been designed to evoke the essence of Chuckles chocolates, Woolworths has made it clear that these items are not edible. The retailer took to social media to address customer queries, reassuring shoppers that while the products were made with high-quality, vegan ingredients, they are not meant for consumption. ‘We were surprised by how many of our customers loved the idea and asked us to create the real thing, so we decided to give it a go,’ said Woolworths in a statement.

The Chuckles beauty range is currently being rolled out across the country, with select products already available in Woolworths stores. As of now, the collection can be found in beauty departments at Woolworths fashion, beauty and home stores, as well as select food markets.
For those eager to get their hands on the products, the full range is also available online. Woolworths has confirmed that stock will be available at all major stores by the end of November.
Despite some scepticism from customers about the necessity of chocolate-scented body care products, the reaction has been largely positive. Many customers were delighted by the whimsical nature of the collection and its perfect timing for the festive season. On social media, some users jokingly asked if the products would come with a ‘not for human consumption’ warning to avoid accidental use as a Nutella substitute.
Although the Chuckles x W. Beauty range is expected to sell out quickly due to its limited-edition status, Woolworths’ decision to turn a light-hearted prank into a real product line showcases their commitment to customer-driven innovation. With demand already high and festive season shopping underway, it seems this sweet-smelling collection is bound to be a holiday hit.
