Former President Nelson Mandela’s words are actualised in the worlds’ ongoing tributes for Australian cricketer Shane Warne who passed away last week Friday at the age of 52.
Whether from Australia or South Africa and beyond, thousands from around the globe have taken to social media to pay their respects to the right-arm leg spinner that was widely considered as one of the greatest bowlers in cricket history. Now, Nando’s takes its turn.
In true Nando’s fashion — hard truths coupled with great wit — the brand shared its tribute to Warne on social media. A print advertisement reads; “Okay, we’ll admit. Your leggies were better than ours. But our chicken is still better than a duck”. The famous peri chicken outlet replaced its logo with a figurine of Warne.
The awesome tribute is complete with a quote by “(mostly) everyone” saying; “Greatest spinner of ALL time, mate. Period.”
The post is so lekker that local talent, activist and all-around inspiration Siv Ngesi gave it a share, captioning his post; “Take a bow @nandossa! RIP to the greatest to ever do it! #ripshanewarne.”
Ngesi joins fans and sports legends around the world in honouring the great sportsman, Shane Warne.
