Angel needs a hero – will it be you?
Angel has already been saved twice. First, when SPCA Inspector Rudi Philander rushed to her aid after a brutal knife attack. Then, when he refused to let fear dictate the end of her story.
Now, she needs one more hero—someone to give her a loving, forever home.
A monster’s crime, a rescuer’s race against time
Angel’s ordeal began over something as trivial as relieving herself on a property owner’s lawn. Enraged, the man chased her home, forced his way inside, and dragged her out from under a bed—before stabbing her.
Wounded and in shock, Angel’s only hope lay with her terrified owners, who called the Cape of Good Hope SPCA for help.
When Inspector Rudi Philander arrived, he found Angel trembling and in pain. Without hesitation, he scooped her up and raced her to the SPCA Animal Hospital, where she quickly received the medical care she needed.
She survived. But her fight for life wasn’t over yet.
A heartbreaking choice – a hero steps in
Angel’s owners, devastated by the attack, feared for her safety if she returned home. Overcome with concern, they made a heartbreaking decision—they asked for Angel to be euthanised.
But Rudi couldn’t accept that.
“I understood their fear. They loved her, but they were terrified of what might happen if she went back home. Still, after everything Angel had been through—after she fought so hard to live—I couldn’t let that be the end of her story,” says Inspector Philander. “She deserved a chance, a life-changing chance.”
And so, he saved Angel a second time—pleading for her life and ensuring she was placed in the SPCA’s adoption program instead.
Angel is safe – but she needs a home
Angel has healed—both physically and emotionally. Thanks to the generosity of SPCA supporters, who fund the work of the hospital and the adoptions team, Angel has recovered and has learned to trust again. Despite everything, she remains full of love.
But no shelter can ever replace a real home.
Now, Angel is waiting for one last hero to change her story forever.
Could that hero be you?
