A Cape of Good Hope SPCA horse rescue began when a young boy in Mamre called the society after he feared for his horse, Forest, reports Cape {town} Etc.
The boy had left Forest stabled at a friend’s property and returned to find the animal ridden, beaten and starved; when threats followed, he rang the SPCA.

The SPCA’s Horse Care Unit collected Forest from Mamre the same day. Staff found him emaciated and wounded and placed him under veterinary treatment and specialised rehabilitation.
‘When threats were made to take the horse back, the boy made the brave decision to call the SPCA,’ the organisation said.
Over nine months of steady care Forest regained weight, his wounds healed and his temperament returned. He bonded with Snowflake, a Shetland pony in recovery and the pair helped one another rebuild trust. The charity says Snowflake will soon begin a new chapter in Piketberg.
Today Forest lives in a permanent home in Noordhoek and staff call his recovery a testament to swift action and compassion. The SPCA is asking the public to support its Horse Care Unit so it can continue rescuing animals like Forest; details and a donation link appear on the SPCA’s post.
If you would like to support the unit, the Cape of Good Hope SPCA provides donation options on its website and social channels.
