Lavender Hill residents brought 118 dogs and cats to a mass sterilisation drive run by the Cape of Good Hope SPCA on 26 November 2025, reports Cape {town} Etc.
The one-day clinic took place at Levana Primary School and formed part of the SPCA’s We Step In campaign.
The drive was organised with Paws-A-While and Aid 4 Animals in Distress. Zoetis sponsored the campaign, which removed the cost barrier for local families.
They shared the drive in a clip on Facebook with their spokesperson Belinda saying, ‘We planned to sterilise 100 and we actually ended today on 118 animals sterilised.’
Every animal received sterilisation, vaccination, deworming and a food parcel before returning home the same day. The practical care aimed to improve pet health and reduce the number of unwanted litters in the area.

Belinda Abraham said the project gives families a simple way to safeguard their pets while supporting community wellbeing.
Field workers and inspectors handled collections, transport and aftercare. Their local presence helped sign up animals and build trust with residents.
Organisers said the turnout shows how much people in Lavender Hill care for their animals when help is available. The partners plan further clinics to keep the momentum and protect both pets and households.
