Dubbed the biggest awards show of the year, Kfm 94.5 invited the people of the Cape to vote across 30 categories for the 2022 Best of the Cape Awards. No funny business, just you choosing the Mother City’s finest. And Cape {town} Etc is adding to the gees by proudly supporting each winner.
Stay tuned: over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing a full feature story on each of your favourites. Your dogs’ dream day out. This is the ‘Best Small Business ’ in the Cape:
The best small business winner: Dogs Day Out
“To wait a day without human companionship is almost certainly the most lonely day one can spend upon the earth.” – anonymous dog.
The Mother City is bustling with busy people. Unfortunately for four-legged family members, this means getting left at home alone with only ingenuity to entertain themselves (or mischief). What to do? The best solution is right under your nose …

Dogs Day Out in Somerset West is a doggy daycare facility that takes pets of all shapes and sizes, and makes sure everyone plays nicely. It’s a safe space and the staff are absolute floof whisperers.

So much more than just a daycare, this is like visiting a favourite family member for the day. It’s a real treat!

The experienced team at Dogs Day Out ensure that your pet is in the perfect playgroup or private haven. Cat parents have the option of a feline boarding facility, too.

Live webcam services let you see all the fun from wherever you are. All in all – this is an awesome experience for owners and furry visitors. Careful though, you might catch some candid kissing footage.

Services include:
-
Doggy daycare:
Seize the play! Dogs Day Out’s fundamental reason for existence is to offer a fully equipped indoor centre for dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes. The outdoor play area ensures that your dogs get plenty of fresh air and sunshine while dog-loving companions supply the most important ingredient: loving attention.
-
Royal cattery boarding service:
Don’t let our name fool you; this is the cat’s me-wow! Feline royalty from all over the Helderberg will find these facilities just to their particular taste, and the Royal Staff will be around to cater to every need.
-
Doggy dorm and regal rooms:
Boarding accommodation offers dormitory-style (bunking with friends) or posh private rooms for elite guests, and comes with automatic daycare service. Now to book that holiday …
-
Pet grooming:
The only danger here is that your pet will be so happy they might not want to come home again. Pamper services will ensure your pet hits the catwalk looking like a million bucks, showing off the latest hairstyles and fashion trends. Groomers only use hypoallergenic products and are professionally trained.
Basic administration requirements:
For daycare and boarding:
- Animals must be spayed/neutered to continue being eligible for doggy daycare and boarding.
- All vaccinations must be up to date (including for Kennel Cough).
- Pets must be completely free of fleas and ticks.
- Regrettably, Dogs Day Out cannot book in Pitbulls or Bull Terriers. If you have a Staffordshire Terrier under six months old, he/she may be booked in for an assessment day. If your Staffy passes the assessment, he/she will then be allowed to be booked in for doggy daycare indefinitely.
