There’s something magical about how a fun, vibrant atmosphere can be so infectious. When people gather to have a good time, you can’t help but feed off their energy and enjoy yourself. That is why the moment I arrived at the Cape Town Carnival, I could not stop smiling.

From people walking in the streets with masks to people lining the streets with their camping gear ensuring they have a good view, everyone looked excited and happy – and that was before the float procession even began!

And when it did, oh wow! Young and old, every colour and creed all danced through the streets in incredible, colourful costumes. Words cannot describe how awesome the floats, puppets and performances were; it is something you have to see to understand.
