This weekend was a great one in Cape Town, From Ultra South Africa to Cape Town Big Walk, people all over the city got together and had an absolute blast. One such awesome gathering was Cape Town Pride 2016, which took over the city all of last week. One of the most popular events of Pride is the parade, and this year was no exception. Hundreds of people came together  to show their supprt and to see the colourful performances and floats sweep through the streets of the city.

Pride is not only a celebration for the LGBTIQ community, it also highlights human rights issues. According to EWN, the parade was also done to honour the victims of hate crimes and educated the community on safe sex practices. There were a number of workshops and pre parties held throughout the week to celebrate and educate, but the main event went down on Saturday at Green Point Urban Park.
