Bloemendal Wine Estate will go to open tender on 25 March with suggested offers from R180 million, putting one of the Cape Winelands’ oldest working farms in the spotlight, reports Cape {town} Etc.
According to Rawson Property, the 238-hectare estate on the slopes of Kanonberg includes a winery, restaurants, a tasting room, conference facilities and a manor house and it will be sold as an operating business.

The farm’s recorded history stretches to 1702 and its modern winemaking began with the first cellar in 1920, creating a long legacy of boutique wines.

According to Bloomberg, ownership has included a company linked to Tokyo Sexwale, who bought the property in 2008.
Rawson Auctions lists strict tender conditions, saying: ‘All buyers are required to register by email and submit proof of funds of R200 million’ and that a non-refundable 5% deposit applies on acceptance. Rawson Auctions
Local industry sources expect competitive bidding and continued interest in mixed residential and hospitality development on part of the land. ‘We’ve had significant interest ahead of the sale,’ a Rawson contact said.
