On the same day, you’ll learn the basics of scuba diving and take your first breath underwater alongside experienced instructors.
Run by the Two Oceans Aquarium Dive School – a certified 5-star PADI Dive Resort – this experience is designed to be safe, accessible and unforgettable. It’s open to anyone aged ten and up, making it a fantastic option for adventurous families, curious beginners and ocean lovers of all kinds.
Before your dive, you’ll complete some light pre-training at home to get you up to speed. This includes watching a short introductory video, part of the globally recognised PADI Discover Scuba programme. Covering the basics (safety, equipment and underwater communication) will ensure you are not only prepared but also super excited for your upcoming dive!
You’ll meet your PADI-certified instructor at one of Cape Town’s spectacular dive sites (selected based on the day’s conditions). Located in sheltered bays, these coastal gems offer calm waters and stunning visibility. In the shallows of the site, you’ll go through basic skills and breathing techniques with your instructor, ensuring you’re confident and ready for the open water.
Then, it’s time to dive in – literally! Descending beneath the surface, you’ll be immersed in a world of swaying kelp forests, vibrant reefs and the incredible variety of ocean life. Look closely and you might spot purple sea urchins and brittle sea stars nestled between rocks, an octopus practising its camouflage, or a shyshark gliding quietly along the seafloor.
This is a chance to experience the ocean like never before, uncovering the mysteries of this beautiful blue realm, all in one day!
While this may be your first dive, it could easily be the first of many more. The PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience can count towards earning your PADI Open Water Diver certification, which qualifies you to dive recreationally around the world.
Whether you go on to pursue certification or simply tick a magical experience off your bucket list, you’ll come away with a deeper appreciation of the ocean and its wonders.
