Pivnushka is open again!
With the blue skies and warming days of September upon us, Hazendal Wine Estate is thrilled to once again welcome guests to Pivnushka, the al fresco beer garden and restaurant on the estate. With beautiful views over the Bottelary Hills, and long tables out in the fresh spring air, it’s the perfect place to reconnect with family and friends over sophisticated cocktails, fine wines and flame-grilled fare.
They have crafted a delicious menu filled with Russian and South African beer garden favourites, from chebureki fried pastries to gourmet jaffles toasted over the coals. For those with a hearty appetite, the sausage platter or beer-glazed eisbein will take care of all your hunger pangs! There are kid-friendly plates, and a wide choice of inspired vegetarian choices too.
Pivnushka is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 11am-5pm
Pretty as a picnic
Make the most of Hazendal’s beautiful estate this spring by booking one of their sumptuous Babushka picnic baskets. Each of their seasonally inspired picnic menus are filled with delicious bites, from the ever-popular Russian Olivier salad and snoek pâté, to dukkah-spiced chicken kebabs and their freshly baked Babushka artisan breads.
Picnics are priced at R300 per person (R140/child) with dedicated vegetarian, vegan and children’s menus on offer. Complement your basket with the award-winning estate wines, or a soft drink, from the Babushka Deli. Also, their botanical fruit cordials are delicious!
With basket in hand, your picnic can be enjoyed on the spacious lawns opposite the Babushka Deli. Their picnic spots are carefully laid out so you could enjoy mesmerising views of the Bottelary Hills, the ideal setting for families and friends to spend the day relaxing at one of the Cape’s oldest wine estates.

Raise a toast to Cap Classique
1 September is Cap Classique Day, and this year Hazendal is toasting the 50th anniversary of South Africa’s signature sparkling wine by offering 20% off on all purchases of Hazendal’s cap classique.
Hazendal winemaker Clarise Sciocatti-Langeveldt has crafted a memorable pair of Cap Classiques, neatly reflecting the diverse coastal terroir of the surrounding Bottelary Hills. Choose between the Hazendal 23.5 Blanc de Blanc, from 100% Chardonnay, and the elegant Hazendal 23.5 Blanc de Noir made with Pinot Noir.
Whichever one you choose to celebrate a half-century of Cap Classique, you’ll enjoy 20% on all purchases, both online and at their Wine Lounge on the estate. Cheers to that!
