Imagine: It’s Thursday night and you step into Cloudigital Art Gallery. Your eyes are met with a collusion of modern-day design and granular, soulful tales of human connection.
You are in a creative galaxy with the works of South Africa’s most provocative and endearing artists as they explore the ways that grievances and hope can be witnessed in the world and the movement that will shift us away from the old, into the new – if we choose.
‘The Wit(h)ness’ exhibition is a space of co-creation by design; all are invited to be involved in creating artwork; welcoming you into the heart of a shared experience that continues to unfold throughout the evening.’
Upon arrival, you are handed a welcome drink specially crafted with no alcohol; instead, you breathe in the scent of fresh ginger, natural botanicals and herbs freshly picked for you.
Drink in hand, you let the earthy colour palette of the exhibition unfold before your eyes like a desert mirage, between heartwrenching tapestries, slow and meditative works of art and hand-crafted pottery.
These works share the powerful message of human connection amid crisis – connection to ourselves and to others. The need to feel it all and the question of how to move forward as a collective.
432 hertz music combined with live performance by Cloudigital’s selected artists invites you to open your heart as you connect with the artworks and social gathering in the space. You are met with the theatrics of their mixologist – the alchemist and curator of the drinks at Cape Town’s very first 0% bar within the art gallery.
Matcha, sceletium, beetroot, fresh ginger and more – every sip is designed to calm your nervous system or invoke a subtle, natural high that enhances connection.
To tantalise your taste, beautiful Italian small plates served by Italian brothers at Riva are circulated and you pick one up as it passes you by. You close your eyes, soaking in the Mediterranean emulsion in your mouth.
Decadent desserts follow, made by Cloud Cafe’s experienced patisserie chefs, and include pure vegan/vegetarian, gluten-free deliciousness.
Between conversations, the hand pan set by the vibrant Kirsten De Beer softens with suspense before the voice of renowned poet and published author Christi Steyn moves like light into the space, captivating the gallery in a harmonious, heartfelt recital that brings you into the present and for a brief time, into the whimsical mystery of life.
Cloudigital Art is more than a gallery. It’s a space for stories to be shared and for life to be experienced.
Hear the meaningful conversation and laughter woven through the space? Feel the immersion? This is Cloudigital Art Gallery.
