While there were some jitters in the Springbok camp at DHL Stadium, it was in the women’s bathroom that head coach, Rassie Erasmus, found little relief after suffering a severe case of stage fright, Cape {town} Etc reports.

The coach related his amusing experience with a female fan – in the lavatory, of all places – during the press conference following South Africa’s thrilling victory over the All Blacks.

With the win, the Boks lifted the Freedom Cup of the Rugby Championship for the first time since 2009.
In describing the uniqueness of Cape Town an its people, Rassie recalls how he ended up in the women’s bathroom to save time before Saturday’s game kicked off, but there was already a lady in there.

Rassie shared a humorous anecdote about an incident that occurred off-camera during the game.
The 50-year-old claimed that during the first half of the match, he had to use the restroom immediately, but he became concerned when he saw that there was a lengthy wait outside the men’s restroom.
Rassie claims he discovered another female fan inside who was taken aback to see the Springboks coach after a female fan allowed him to use the women’s restroom instead.

‘She was dressed, and everything was fine. She turned around, and then I got stage fright,’ he laughed, taking the opportunity to thank the Cape Town fans who brought a ‘lekker vibe.’
‘It’s lovely what the crowd did. You feel it. Even when things are not going well, they keep on singing. They’re always happy, even when you’re losing,’ he added.
