The Armoury is a traditional boxing gym based in Woodstock that offers great workouts, progressive learning and hard earned reward in a friendly and motivating environment. No posing. No nonsense. An escape from the ordinary. The Armoury has created a space for every kind of boxer, whether you’re just in it for fitness and fun and don’t feel the need to step into the ring, as well as for those who are driven by a more primal motive to test their grit by going toe-to-toe.
The Armoury provides class-based and personal boxing and fitness training so that you can achieve your training objectives by optimising the four elements of FITT:
Frequency: how often you exercise – The Armoury offers daily classes.
Intensity: how hard you exercise – The coaches will ensure that you are always pushing yourself.
Time: when you exercise – at your convenience; morning, lunchtime and evening.
Type – the type of exercise – functional training / authentic boxing training.
The Armoury provides plenty of choice from the standard class-based membership to tailored combinations of one-on-one and class memberships, one-on-one personal training, small group classes and special courses.
The standard membership includes all classes on the schedule; boxing fitness, speed-strength classes and sparring. Members are also free to train in their own time in the open sessions during operating hours.
In the boxing fitness class you can expect a combination of functional training and authentic boxing fitness training and conditioning, whilst keeping it non-contact. Speed-strength will condition your body with specific movements that imitate boxing to increase your agility, speed, power and coordination. Skills and sparring class is for those who actually want to fight, learn and practice boxing skills, strategy and full contact sparring.
The Armoury holds White Collar Boxing fight nights for it’s fighters who want to put their hard work to the test. The next fight night will be March 25, 2022.
White Collar boxing is essentially recreational and uses the sport as a means of personal development for people to push themselves and achieve individual objectives. It all began back in 1988 when Dr. Richard Novak, a lawyer, fought Dr. David Lawrence, a multi millionaire businessman with a PhD in English Literature, in the first ‘White Collar’ bout in the legendary Gleason’s Boxing Gym in New York.
Safety is a top priority at The Armoury. The bouts consists of just three, two minute rounds and the boxers are protected by 16 ounce gloves (twice as padded as those that professionals wear), head guards, mouth guards and groin protectors.
The boxers commit to at least three months of rigorous training with formally qualified coaches who develop them technically, physically and mentally all the way. It’s tough, because boxing is, but that’s kind of the point. The Armoury wants to transform your life and bring out the Champion in you!
