Known officially as the biggest sneaker trading event in Africa, the Sneaker Exchange will be running down to the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town this October.

The event invites sneaker collectors and aficionados to buy, sell or trade sneakers, as well as buy locally produced apparel and footwear. Sneaker Exchange boasts an impressive 3000 attendees per event, in South Africa’s major hubs such as Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.

Sneaker Exchange is not just for the real ‘Originals Gangsters’ – the event offers the rare opportunity to see limited edition or exclusive sneaker designs first hand. It also provides sneaker the traders the chance to either trade in or sell their neat-mint condition footwear to sneaker-specialists alike.

“The whole premise of the event is that it’s about sharing the love of a culture few people know about or understand,” says Sneaker Exchange founder, Zaid Osman. “I created this event so that I could share my passion for sneakers with others and so we welcome anyone and everyone to Sneaker Exchange.”

What’s more is that sneaker-lovers will be entertained by artists like Cassper Nyovest, Youngsta CPT and Frank Casino in the line-up. To keep things fresh local fashion labels, big-name brand activations, food vendors, live sneaker customisations and even a barber will be there on the day.
