While every day should be a celebration of the incredible women in your life, each year on 9 August we come together to celebrate the brave women that marched on this day in 1956 to petition against legislation that required African persons to carry the ‘pass’.
Whether you’re opting to honour women of the past, present or future, here are a few exciting events to help you celebrate:
Beach yoga and an icy swim:
There’s nothing that tests your bravery quite like taking a dip in the icy Atlantic Ocean. Join Prana Love, a small yoga studio in Blouberg, as they celebrate women by offering a free yoga session on Blouberg beach, followed by a swim in the ocean.
If you’re a busy mom looking for some me-time or an overworked sister or daughter looking to take a breath and get in touch with yourself, this is a nourishing event that will help revitalise mind, body and soul.
- Location: Small Bay Park
- Time: 9:30am
