Planning regular date nights is an essential part of any relationship. Whether you’re in the honeymoon stage and still getting to know each other better, or you’ve been married for years with a couple of kids in the mix, you still need that special alone time to check in and connect with each other.
But when it’s a cold and rainy evening and you’re not in the mood for any kissing-in-the-rain romcom scenes, it becomes a bit of a mission to venture out. Thankfully, there are a plethora of ways to stay entertained even if you’re staying at home.
From spa nights to dancing and so much more, here are five stay-at-home date night ideas to be romantic without having to leave the house.
Home-made spa date
Gather your essential oils, sheet masks, towels and a bath robe, because it’s time for some intimate relaxation. One of the most romantic things to do at home is to create your very own luxurious spa experience, from the comfort of your own home. Light some tea candles and turn on some relaxing music. Bath bombs or shower gels can add a nice touch to the entire experience.

Wine or chocolate tasting
A wine tasting evening sounds fancy, but it’s pretty easy to set up at home. Grab your finest bottles of wine and channel your inner connoisseur. Swirl your glasses, detect some tasting notes – you can even pretend if you’d like, no one’s listening, or simply decide which of the selection is your favourite.
To make things more fun, you could hide the labels and try to guess which wine is the priciest and the cheapest based on taste. And if you’re not that into wine, this kind of isn’t your thing this kind of tasting can work just as well with chocolate.

Have a games night
Challenge each other to an evening of endearing competition. Chances are you might have a few old games lying around or use this as an excuse to finally try out that new board game you’ve been eyeing at the shops.
Whether it’s video games, scrabble, monopoly or a there’s nothing like a little bit of competitive spirit to strengthen the bond between you and your partner. And remember, all’s fair in love and war.
Just kidding, have fun and simply enjoy each other’s company.

Create a scrapbook
Dig out the photo boxes or scroll through your digital collections and create a beautiful memoir of your relationship. When was the last time you printed out some photos and reminisced about the good old days?
Have you ever taken the chance to write down your love story?A cute idea to add to your scrapbook is to write down all the fun and special moments onto little notes and paste them alongside the pictures. Where did you meet? Where was your first kiss? Think of all the fun details you’d like to cherish together.

Test each other’s dancing skills
Getting close and building connections is the whole point of date night, and what better way to do this than letting loose and dancing with your significant other? Try not to giggle too much though as you and your partner bust out some entertaining mis-coordinated movements.
Why not try out that Tiktok dance challenge you’ve been obsessing over recently, try learning a few new moves on a youtube dance class or simply turn down the lights and turn up the music. It has all the intimacy of a club without the downside of bumping strangers and overheating.
