Capetonians love a good farmer’s market, but when you’re a million miles from the city, a great alternative is a lekker padstal. If you’re looking for little farm stall gems while taking in the beauty of this region, here are a few you should stop at:

Situated in the small seaside town of Yzerfontein, the West Coast farm stall is a prominent fixture along the R27. It’s the perfect pitstop for those looking to purchase delicious homemade goodies like jams and bread or enjoy a “quick” bite to eat. You may find yourself spending hours exploring this interesting space, as it provides an assortment of colourful parrots and other birds to chat to during your stop.

Vygevallei Farm Stall & Wine House
Situated a short drive from Rondeberg Private Nature Reserve – the perfect spot to catch a glimpse of the wildflowers – Vygevallei Farm Stall & Wine House is definitely worth the stop. They offer a deliciously comprehensive menu that includes freshly baked bread, homemade cheeses, pasta, and incredible local wine. Make sure you grab some of their delicious butter or a few jars of jam for the road, as these are what this particular farm stall is renowned for. It’s also a great place for your kids to burn off some energy, as the small farmyard is teeming with geese, goats and ducks.

If you’re really looking to explore the West Coast, then make sure you visit Kardoesie Farm Stall in Citrusdal. There are several spots in this area to grab a few beautiful snaps of the flowers, and it’s a great place to stretch your legs if you’re travelling on the Cape to Namibia Route of the N7. Along with some delicious food on their menu, it also has some amazing views of the mountains and valley with indoor and outdoor seating for those cool days. They also have an assortment of homemade goodies to pack into your bags, and it’s well worth the stop.
