The journey to market paradise is one train ride away, on a 160km round-trip to be exact, departing on Saturdays and Sundays from Cape Town.
The destination? None other than the Art Deco ‘Elgin Railway Market’. An exceptional experience for those adventurers looking to shake off the city life for a while, and embrace life in this sprawling countryside.
The scenic journey departs from Harbour Bridge Platform (close to the Cape Town International Convention Centre), and meanders through Cape Town and its surrounds until reaching the majestic Sir Lowrys Pass as your ears drift to the sounds of the clickety-clack.
Arriving at the foot of the pass, the train then embarks on a climb up one of the steepest railway lines in South Africa. Cresting the peak, the train navigates into the lush and charming Elgin Valley before arriving at the exquisite Elgin Railway Market.
Guests can enjoy the gorgeous scenery while sipping on drinks from the cash bar and snacking on a few delectable goodies in the dining car on board this stunning train.
The service is suited to all ages and promises to be an experience to never forget. Kids under 2 travel free.
